What is the GDPR?
The General Data Protection Regulation, known as the GDPR, was passed by the European Union in 2016. These regulations give EU citizens more control over personal data that businesses use and store. The law went into effect on May 25, 2018. The three main principles discussed within this regulation are transparency, control and accountability of storing and processing a customer’s data.
Refersion as Data Controller
As a controller, Refersion stores merchants’ and Marketplace affiliates’ data such as names, emails, phone numbers, and credit card information for billing purposes. This data is strictly used to provide services and to communicate important updates relating to our software application. This data is stored within our cloud hosting infrastructure.
Refersion as Data Processor
As a processor, we handle customers’ transaction data such as sales details, on behalf of Refersion’s merchants and partners. We process this data to provide commission calculations, tracking, and order attribution services.
How do I access, erase, restrict, or rectify data within Refersion?
Merchants and Marketplace affiliates should email our Customer Success team at [email protected]. Our team will be able to provide instructions for actions such as deleting affiliates or removing transaction data. Certain changes can be performed by the merchant or affiliate, but others will need to be performed by the Refersion team. Our Customer Success team will be able to complete all necessary verifications for the request and will provide timelines for completion.
