Refersion makes it very easy to pay affiliates once they have generated conversions for you. Keep in mind that payments to affiliates are not made automatically, you need to log in to pay them (we HIGHLY recommend you define how frequently you'll be paying affiliates in your commission terms). There are three different ways to pay affiliates:

  • PayPal Payouts: Refersion integrates with PayPal Payouts to easily pay affiliates. Instructions on how to set that up can be found here.
  • Gift Card via Email: Sends the affiliate an email with the gift card you create and marks the affiliate as paid
  • Manual Payment: You can pay the affiliate outside of Refersion (wire transfer, check, Venmo, etc) and mark them as paid in Refersion so your reporting is accurate.

To pay affiliates, navigate to the Payments tab. Here all the affiliates that have a payment that is due (i.e. that have conversions that have been approved in Refersion) are listed. You can search for a specific affiliate, filter by offer, and click Show Advanced Filtering to display some more filtering options. The PayPal logo will be displayed next to affiliates that have supplied a PayPal email address.

Select the affiliates you'd like to pay. Multiple conversions by the same affiliate will be grouped together, to see the orders click on See Conversions. After selecting the affiliates, click Process Bulk Payments on the bottom. You will be presented with the three payment options:

PayPal Payouts and Mass Payments:

PayPal Payouts is the easiest way to pay affiliates, once setup you can pay affiliates with just a few clicks! In order to enable this feature you need to actually enable the Payouts API. Detailed instructions on how to do this can be found here. Note that your PayPal account will also need to have enough funds to cover the payments.

Please note: Paypal is retiring Mass Payments in the near future. We highly recommend switching to Paypal Payouts ASAP. Here's an article covering the benefits of making the switch.

Before paying affiliates with PayPal Mass Payments or Payouts, make sure the Payment Info Supplied column displays the PayPal logo in the previous step. If it is not displayed, that means the affiliate has not supplied their Paypal email address. They can update this from the affiliate dashboard, or you can update it for them by going to Manage > Affiliates > clicking on the affiliate's name > Offer & Payment and filling in their PayPal email.

Once payments are made through PayPal, affiliates will receive an email (which can be customized from the Channels > Email page) and the affiliate will be marked as paid. You can view the payment status by going to Payments > Payment Status. Some common Mass Payments errors and troubleshooting can be found here.

Gift Cards:

You can choose to pay affiliates using a Gift Card instead. This function emails the affiliate a gift card that you would create in your ecommerce backend and marks the affiliate as paid.

To pay affiliates using a gift card, follow the steps above to select affiliates from the Payments tab and click Process Bulk Payments. Click on Send Gift Card via Email and you will be prompted to enter the gift card code. Create a gift card in your ecommerce backend and click on Process Payments and Email Gift Codes. Affiliates will receive an email (can be customized from the Channels > Email page) and the affiliate will be marked as paid.

Manual Payments:

If you prefer to pay affiliates any other way, you can do so outside of Refersion and mark the affiliates as Paid in Refersion so your reporting is accurate. To do this, follow the steps above to select affiliates from the Payments tab and click Process Bulk Payments. Choose Complete Payment Manually, and a success page will appear summarizing the affiliates marked as paid. Affiliates will receive an email (can be customized from the Channels > Email page) and the affiliate will be marked as paid.
