The Refersion-Shopify integration is solid and super straightforward. That said, there are some variables that can complicate things. One of them is external payment gateways.
When your shop uses an external payment provider, it takes the customer away from the Shopify checkout page to enter their payment info (the gateway). The problem with this redirect is that some customers never return to your site, even with prompting to do so. Refersion tracking depends upon customers getting back to that confirmation or thank you page.
Before we share examples of external payment providers, it’s worth noting that there are direct payment providers that do not pose any issues for Refersion tracking.

Stripe
Authorize.Net
… and now for some of the common external providers that may result in an issue:

Other things to look out for
Test Purchases Marked Paid
If you’ve used COD for your test order, you’ll need to mark your order as PAID in order for it to report into Refersion.
Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) Smart Button: BNPL has become a favorite of customers, but orders processed this way will only report into Refersion once paid. For example, if it takes the customer 3 months to pay, the affiliate won't receive credit until 3 months later. This isn’t an error; it’s just something to be aware of.
Unsupported Complementary Plugins
In addition to several supported complementary plugins, there are some that are currently unsupported and have been known to cause issues with Refersion:
Bold Cashier
Checkout X
DropiCheckout Beta
EasyLocation - Location Redirects
Recurring Memberships
